Location & Getting Here

Merluna Station is located on the remote Cape York Peninsula in North Queensland, approximately 150 km north-west of Coen and 120 km south-east of Weipa. The station sits around 8 km off the Peninsula Development Road, making it a convenient stop for travellers exploring Cape York.

By road, Merluna Station is approximately 720 km north-west of Cairns.


Getting here by air

Qantas operates daily flights between Cairns and Weipa. Hire cars are available in Weipa for visitors travelling on to Merluna Station.

Merluna also has a 1000 metre all-weather airstrip located at the station complex.

Driving times

  • From Weipa: approximately 1.5 hours via unsealed road

  • From Cairns: approximately 10 hours by road

Please note that sections of the road are unsealed and conditions can vary, particularly during the wet season.
